MBA Journey
Many people ask themselves whether an MBA is something they do for the sake of the community or if it is something they want for themselves. I did too, I'll admit it. But having completed a year pursuing an MBA, I now understand its importance. An MBA is not your normal education; it helps you hone your skills and enables you to get ready for the initially cruel corporate years. The whole idea of an MBA is not only to educate you but also to make sure you are ready for what lies ahead.
When I first reached Jaipur to pursue my MBA, I was skeptical if this was what I wanted in life, but being confused about what I wanted to do, I chose to pursue my MBA instead of wasting my time (as suggested by my dad). The subjects were boring, as I wasn't too involved in learning and wanted to have fun, roam around, and play games. I wasted a whole semester on this, and the result was devastating. My GPA came to be 5. It was difficult to see the result, but it was true. I told my parents about this, and they were, obviously, unhappy. Even the director of our college was shocked to see me get a 5 GPA. They asked me to buck up and start worrying about my future. The talks I had with my family got me thinking about the reason I am here, the reason my parents are spending lakhs of rupees for this MBA. I sat down alone and in silence, thinking about why I had gotten so little and why I was not paying attention. During the semester, all I had done was doodle in classes and sleep, play, and goof around in the hostel. I sought to improve in the next semester, whatever it took.
After the semester holidays, when I came back, I started paying more attention to classes from day one. I made notes and asked questions. I answered the questions given to us in class and completed all my assignments on time and properly. I didn't stop having fun, but I did start paying attention to my studies. I participated in the events but didn't let it hamper my studies. I played games, goofed around, and had lots of fun with my friends. When it was time to study, I would leave everything aside, put on some calming music, and start studying. I did this for the whole semester. Honestly speaking, there were also times when my friends and I would have FIFA, Mortal Kombat, and Tekken 8 tournaments as well as play Valorant matches that would go on for the whole night. The season of exams dawned upon us, and all of us buckled up and started studying. None of us would utter a word about games, and all we would do was study. Unfortunately, during the exams, my health deteriorated, and I was mostly asleep. During the exam, I was so ill that my eyes went blurry and I had no idea what I was writing. Even then, I managed to get 6.53, which was good news but bad news as well. The good news is that I had done much better than before, but the bad news is that it wasn't enough.
I now know what I must do to improve my performance and that an MBA is a means to a better lifestyle rather than merely an academic degree.
